Together Hope Grows
Location: Gateway Mall, 6100 O Street, Lincoln, NE
“Together Hope Grows” (Sixteen Days of Hope) was inspired by the story of a young gal who committed suicide over a mere 16 cents - the money it would take for her to purchase a notebook and pencil to attend school. Many people in the USA have that amount of money rolling around the floor of their vehicle. This heart-wrenching story inspired the idea of using art to encourage people to make a simple difference in someone’s life. The mosaic’s glass pieces serve to remind the viewer that it also takes all of us doing our part to complete the work.
Partnering with Hope Venture and Gateway Mall this piece was created to bring awareness to the work Hope Venture is doing around the world and with the hope of inspiring others to step up and make a difference. The mural was created at Gateway Mall with the help of the public. The work place created an environment where people could connect, learn about making a simple difference in someone else’s life, and support the work of Hope Venture.
The roots of the mural were completed by the attendees of “Night of Hope” as these people represent the foundation of support for Hope Venture just as the roots provide the strength of the tree.
The piece currently resides at Gateway Mall for an indefinite period of time where the experience can be shared and remembered by those who took part in the Sixteen Days of Hope.
Experience the journey of the Sixteen Days of Hope by reading my blog for July of 2016
