Ann Williams was immersed in the art world at an early age. Her artist father exposed her to art galleries and displays early on and Ann found her youthful artistic inspiration in the nature surrounding the small family farm west of Lincoln, NE. After graduating from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a degree in Fine Arts, Ann eventually plunged head first into the art world to pursue her passion full time. She explored a variety of media and continued to evolve as an artist while continuing to reside in Lincoln, NE – her current location.
In 2017, Ann had the opportunity to lead the Art and Church Track at CIVA's biannual conference as well as present on her artistic involvement as a liaison between non-profit and for-profit entities in Lincoln, NE. Ann's work over the past five years has been a mix of public art projects, many involving the community in the process of making and exploration in her studio often involving the shapes of trees during the winter season.
Ann served on the board of Hildegard Center for the Arts four year. She served eight years and was on staff for four years as the Director of the Visual Arts Ministry of Lincoln Berean Church where she encouraged and led artists, taught adult and children's art classes, curated five gallery spaces, and involved the congregation in various visual art activities.
Ann is a prolific artist, having completed and exhibited a number of her works. A large body of work inspired by the Book of Psalms traveled across the country and a series containing 225 paintings created through study of the Bible's Gospels, were given to two Lincoln, NE non-profits for display. She has exhibited her art in Los Angeles, Boston, Chicago, and other places across the nation.
Ann helps to bring interactive art pieces to Lincoln's Gateway Mall including one that was a visual representation of the need for mentors in the city entitled One Thousand.
Ann's personal work is currently taking a diversion from her unique painting style which incorporates rich color and intuitive bold lines. However she continues to explore nature, landscapes and theological themes mostly through the imagery of trees in mixed media mosaics which combine abstract paintings, clear and stained glass, mirror and cast resin or bronze reliefs of trees.
“My inspiration comes from creation, scripture and observations of how people and objects move and
sound. Through sharing my work in a variety of venues from galleries small and large, mainstream
or religious, I strive to encourage other artists within my reach and challenge them and all other viewers
of my work to do that which they’ve been created to do.”
