While reading the popular parable about the sower, I could not get the farming reference out of my head.  I didn’t want to make the painting quite so literal, so I chose to draw images from the parable in oil pastel behind the final painting.  If you look closely in the center top of the painting you will see a hand which casts seed. The plant images round out the bottom of the painting.  I deliberately chose the green shades in order to reiterate this idea of planting.
