Scorned (September 2011)
Scripture: Matthew 26:57-67 / Mark 14:53-65 / Luke 22:66-71 / John 18:12-14 18” x 24” NOT AVAILABLE Spit on … mocked … beaten… for you and for me. I am often captivated when I hear how Christ was humiliated and physically scourged as part of taking my punishment of death to the cross. In this painting, I tried to captivate how it must’ve felt to have people from every angle degrading Him while all the while he stood there innocent and willing. He did that for me. He took the brunt for me. The red of each “blast” with its word of pain is used to show the blood he shed, while the yellow of the figure represents His pureness and innocence. The piece is tied together with green (the color of life – that for which He bore my pain and beating). |
