Psalms 6 (August 2007)
29" x 12" - canvas banner By working on sets of ten or more at one time, I was able to meditate on the fact that He is both big and majestic and yet still intimate and personal. He is God of the universe and Lord of my life. It again amazed me that the one who controls the world and holds it in place came to be my Savior, shield, and deliverer and that He is holy, righteous and just. These ideas come through in Psalm 6 as a figure with outstretched arms, drawn in oil pastel, lies beneath a bed of yellow paint. The choice of color helps to bring attention to the center of the banner and allows the viewer to follow the arms of the figure out to the words: disciplines, merciful, accepting, understands me, and up to: hears and loves. These are all intimate words and the image invites the viewer in to the center to give him/her a personal encounter with the work just as God relates with us. |
