In this scripture, Jesus pays the temple tax showing his disciples it is good to do so.  He provides for this tax through a coin that He pulls from the mouth of a fish.  It shows God’s ultimate provision even for taxes. It reminds me that He will always provide for my needs even if it comes from someplace I can’t see until it happens. 
Look for a fish hidden in the painting as well as a coin and a hand reaching for it.  The hand is drawn in oil pastel under the paint layer.
