As a teacher Christ showed mercy and forgiveness to those whom the religious of His day looked down upon.  He showed sinners that He cared by spending time with them and teaching them of salvation through faith in He as Savior.  He saw what each person’s heart needed and met each one at that spot.  He is worthy of obedience and following. The green of this painting reflects a calmness and peace of Christ meeting people on the appropriate level. The image of the
figure humbly bowed and handing over a sack of money shows that Christ is worth more than gold or silver and worthy, so worthy of our praise.  It reminds me that so many things can be an idol and I must keep my focus on the One who is truly worthy of my gaze – Christ, my Merciful Teacher and Savior.
