Light Bright Wall: Butterfly Selfie, Fall 2021
Location: Gateway Mall, 6100 O Street, Lincoln, NE
After a little over a year of the wall near Dicks Sporting Goods being host to a large word find, I began to work on a new iteration of the wall at Gateway Mall. Working with the General Manager we came up with another light bright idea. This time, however, we needed to find a way to keep the public from destroying the wall. We learned during the first and second iteration of the wall that people would push the colored cups through the holes. Then with the word wall, we placed 8' high plexi up the wall to deter vandalism. The stipulation was that the wall would not require attention from the staff while it was up so I had to look for another transparent material to place under the plexi. I came up with adhesive vinyl and cut several hundred circles from the vinyl to complete the project. After my work of placing stickers on the wall, Clay did the magic of lighting the piece. Teamwork defines this project. The piece is currently up at Gateway.
