I very rarely think of someone who is a judge, but when I do I sure do not associate the term forgiving with a person in that position.  For one,
judges do not usually have the ability to fully pardon someone.  It is that oxymoronic statement of forgiving judge that fascinated me for this painting. Hidden within the work is an image of a cross.  The cross bar of this image turns into a gavel with the head in the left bottom corner of the work.  This image is to represent the character of God as judge.
