Luke takes a very chronological approach to His gospel and begins by explaining this and the foretold birth of John the Baptist who would precede Jesus and call the nation of Israel to repentance.  The colors of promise
remind the viewer of God’s faithfulness to accomplish what he foretells.  Look for the word “faithful” written in oil pastel under the painted layer.
