Lord of the Gospels
After having finished a series of 150 paintings on God’s character from the book of Psalms, I was inspired to undertake another large series inspired by the Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. I began the series in the fall of 2008, by reading the scriptures and searching for what God says about Himself and His Son Jesus through these passages. As I worked through each
set of scriptures I was enamored by how Jesus wasn’t just showing us who God was in Him, but also how I am to live life as a Christ-follower and how human He was. The series covers events, emotions, parables, and teachings found in all four gospels of the New Testament. The collection contains 224 mixed media paintings created on stretched canvases.
THE VISION
God made it clear to me at the start of this series of paintings that they were to be given as an offering to help a non-profit, ministry or charity in some capacity. Since 2008, I have become more aware of a number of “good causes” always wondering who was to be the
recipient of this ever growing collection. Then in 2011, God revealed just who the series was designed for. God created a ministry through Tiny Hands International which seeks to reach people enslaved in human trafficking (esp. the sex trade) – an area in our world where little to no one is venturing to provide hope but Christ-followers. I find it incredible that when God laid this series on my heart, Tiny Hands International wasn’t even on my radar. Although to me the creation process of this series seemed slow, God reminded me that His timing is perfect and it is amazing to see how the speed of this body of work is SO right on the mark. The whole series is the story of God’s Good News and I pray that through the gift of this series, God’s message of love and hope will meet women and people who have never had the chance to hear and experience it before. I long to be used to God’s glory and He has called me to create and through that He can use me just as He can use you right where you are at. I hope you’ll join me in changing lives for eternity through this series. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the sale of the series will go to continue the work of Tiny Hands International.
THE FIRST 108 PAINTINGS AND THOSE LISTED AS "NOT AVAILABLE"
The first 108 paintings from the Gospel Series were placed on display at the Lincoln Berean Church in early 2012 which culminated with an on-line auction. Over $1000 was raised to go toward the work of Tiny Hands International. Several of the paintings remained un-purchased so in the spring of 2012 I removed all the canvases from their wooden stretchers and repurposed them into banners complete with dowel rods and hangers. They were then taken with short-term missionaries to Nepal and India in the summer of 2012 where they are being used to encourage people working as part of Tiny Hands in children's homes and offices.
The other paintings that are listed as "NOT AVAILABLE" have since been sold to go toward continued work through Tiny Hands International and other non-profit organization bringing a taste of God's Kingdom to the torn parts of our community, state, and world.
UPDATE 8/13/2016: SERIES COMPLETE
As of this date, the Gospel Series is complete and God has placed the remain paintings. On July 6, 2016, after two years of conversations and waiting, the final 60 plus paintings were accepted as a gift to Lincoln, Nebraska's People City Mission. The mission was the very first place I ever participated in a missions work project. Thank you Arlene and Marlin Rempel for taking us as junior high kids to work in the mission for a day. It unlocked a connection for me that has come full circle. My boys and I went on the 6th and hung the paintings ourselves in the hallways of the family and women's shelter areas. We had the opportunity to interact with some of the mission's guests and have enjoyed hearing what God is doing through the artwork. INSTALLATION IMAGES BELOW.
