Darkness Creeps In
12" x 18" Acrylic Paint THE THOUGHT BEHIND THE PAINTING: This painting was actually created before I began wrestling with this particular issue. When I’m done mixing paint I apply the left over paint onto a board or canvas and do this over a period of weeks or months. In this case, as I added the black the title of the piece presented itself. It was a reminder that when we think we are at our least sinful we are actually at great risk of faltering. It is when our pride and piety cause us to think we are better than another – the darkness creeps in and we are consumed. HOW IT RELATES TO THIS SERIES: When we allow our hearts to harden and refuse to try and see things from someone else’s viewpoint in order to understand them, we open ourselves up for the darkness of disunity to creep in. HOW THE PIECE WAS MADE: The acrylic paint on this board was applied with the end of a pencil over time. |
