Crucified with Criminals (October 2011)
Scripture: Matthew 27:32-44 / Mark 15:22-32 / Luke 23:26-43 / John 19:17-27 16” x 20” NOT AVAILABLE I wanted to focus on the idea that there wasn’t just one person hanging on a cross the day Christ was crucified so I took three oval shapes and placed them in the familiar Golgotha stance (we often see in images of the crosses on the hill). The oil pastel cross in the layer behind the paint helps to ground the image as one from scripture. The red represents the blood that which was spilled that day and the purple and gold stand for the royalty of Christ and the promise made for one of the criminals to be in Heaven with Him that day. |
