Sold For Thirty (September 2011)
Scripture: Matthew 27:1-10
24” x 18”
Jesus was sentenced to death and the man who sent Him to stand before officials for thirty pieces of silver hung himself out of guilt. The prophecy had been fulfilled – one of Jesus’ own followers gave Him up for mere
money. The reds of this picture symbolize blood and behind the painted layer, thirty shiny coins reside made from aluminum foil. It makes me question where my own loyalties lie when push comes to shove. I hope this painting will make you ponder that question too. How important is Jesus in my life?
Would I sell Him out just to save myself? If so, take a lesson from Judas – the end is surely death.
