Radiant Praise (2008 Lincoln Berean Church Exalt His Name Together Project)
Mosaic
In collaboration with Pam Apley
Current Location: Private Residence in Lincoln, NE
We are magnifiers and reflectors of our value system and where we ultimately place our trust. As believers we radiate with God’s character as He moves in and through us. In order for that to happen, we must be broken to self so the Spirit can reign and move to accomplish His purpose for us. These are the major themes of Radiant Praise.
We chose to use mirror and glass because of its light reflecting quality. As light is shined on the surface it explodes in a brilliant sheen which is representational of what happens when God shines His character and love in and through us magnifying Himself in an amazing way. The colors of the pieces reiterate the themes of reflection, joy, and praise.
We chose to use mosaic materials for a number of reasons. First of all, it stretched us as a team to trust God in a medium only one of us was semi-familiar with. We also chose the broken tiles and glass because they represent the state of surrender and brokenness we must be in for God to use us for His purposes. The variety of mosaic materials and colors create three different, yet similar figures, in order to show our individual uniqueness and yet our call to Exalt His Name Together.
We hope that viewers will be captured by the brilliant, light-reflecting nature of the piece and be challenged and encouraged to stand in awe of the beautiful majestic God.
