God not only carried out His intent to save, but also provides instruction on how to live for Him.  Psalm 79 stems from this idea.  One can see a hidden figure pointing, not in condemnation, but in teaching and discipline in order for us to learn.  He is the forgiver, deliverer, strength, and glorious Savior and He takes time with me to make me more like Him – that amazes the socks off me.
