Honors Authority (January 2011)

It may be odd to have a title of a painting that speaks of Jesus honoring earthly authority since He has authority over all things.  I entitled this work in this manner to raise this question and also to show how Jesus was an example to all of us.  Although the Pharisees were trying to trap Him in regards to their question concerning payment of taxes, Jesus knew their intent and in-turn showed us something miraculous about His design for creation.  For each person, He has given someone who is their authority. The highest ranking official in the world still has God as His authority
whether he/she honors that or not.  What Christ is showing here is that if God has placed you under the authority of someone in your job, your family, your country, etc. you are to have integrity and honor those whom He has allowed to be above you.  This shows the character and love of Christ.
