Scripture: Matthew 1:1-17 / Luke 3:23-28
12" x 20"
NOT AVAILABLE

When I read these passages,  I became aware of the significance of each gospel’s starting point.  Matthew made it clear that Jesus was “of the Jews” with his family line in Abraham, but then Luke makes it clear that He is also “of all Mankind” by mentioning His lineage to Adam.  The idea of this one line in two forms was the basis for this painting. The image of the family tree connecting in various places allows the viewer not only move down the painting but also draw this dual connection.  A figure in the center serves to
represent Jesus.  The colors of yellow, white, and bright yellow-green represent Jesus not only as the Son of
Man but the Son of God – the light of the world.
