The great distance in this image represents the travel so many of the players of this passage make.  Travelling to and from cities and towns Jesus preached, taught, healed, and connected with people.  Some trusted His healing words and simply believed and set off for home to find a loved one well.  Jesus could see the hearts of His followers and who believed not because of what they had seen but because they believed He was who He claimed to be.
