Closing the Gap
8" x 10" framed to 16" x 24" THE THOUGHT BEHIND THE PAINTING: As I continued to work with blacks and whites I looked for ways to unite the tones slowly and patiently by tilting the canvas back and forth. It represents the wisdom I received while wrestling – that often we need to approach one another on opposite sides of an issue with patience and grace, especially in the body of Christ. My prayer through creation of the piece is that both sides of issues and generational divisions can be approached from both groups with patience and grace and if done so will create a beautiful picture of unity. HOW IT RELATES TO THIS SERIES: The beauty of this wrestling is the hope of and prayer for unity to come. I long to see people united under Christ with open hearts to hear from one another on differing sides of issues. Not so that we can all agree but so that we can all understand one another a bit better. HOW THE PIECE WAS MADE: This was made by placing thin black and white acrylic paint on canvas and then gently tilting the canvas back and forth till desired aesthetic was achieved. |
