Beaten and Mocked (October 2011)
Scripture: Matthew 27:27-31 / Mark 15:16-20 14” x 14” NOT AVAILABLE The title states that which I want viewers to concentrate on. This thought that Christ was beaten and mocked in my place and yours. Here I focused on color and simplicity. The thorns that pierce in from every side represent the crown of thorns placed on Christ’s head which was then smashed into His skull as He was beaten. The red represents the blood shed during the lashes He received in my place and the purple stands for the “kingly robe” they draped on His shoulders in order to mock Him. Could He have stopped it all? Yes, but He didn’t. He willingly took it all on Himself for me. Wow. Think on that a while when you view this piece. |
